🏦 Inflation Calculator

Calculate the future or past value of money based on inflation rate.

About Our Inflation Calculator

The Inflation Calculator helps you understand the time value of money. It estimates how the purchasing power of a certain amount of money changes over time due to inflation. You can calculate either the future value (what a current amount will be worth later) or the past value (what a past amount would be worth today).

How Does It Work?

  • Enter Current Amount: Input the amount of money you want to evaluate.
  • Enter Annual Inflation Rate: Input the average annual inflation rate in percentage (e.g., 5 for 5%).
  • Enter Years:
    • For future value, enter a positive number of years (e.g., 10 for 10 years from now).
    • For past value (i.e., what an amount from 'x' years ago is worth today), enter a negative number of years (e.g., -10 for 10 years ago).
  • Calculate: Click the "Calculate" button.
  • View Results: The tool will display the adjusted value of money based on the provided inputs.

Formula for Future Value (FV): FV = PV * (1 + r)^n

Formula for Past Value (equivalent to today's PV from a future value): PV = FV / (1 + r)^n

Where PV = Present Value (Current Amount), r = inflation rate per period, n = number of periods (years).

Key Features:

  • Calculates both future and past value of money.
  • Uses standard inflation calculation formulas.
  • Simple and intuitive interface.
  • Option to copy results.
  • Option to download results as a PDF.

Note: This calculator provides an estimation based on a constant average inflation rate. Actual inflation rates can fluctuate significantly over time. The results are for informational purposes only and should not be considered financial advice. For precise financial planning, consult with a qualified financial advisor.
